June Daddio Update

Daddio has been very busy for the past few weeks. He has a friend, that has a granddaughter, who is expecting a baby boy in September. Of course he had to make a quilt for the little guy. He ordered some very nice flannel in the Wild Ones fabric collection from Connecting Threads. Here it is pre-assembly. We still need to sew the blocks together and add the sashing.

The latest Dresden Plate quilt has its sashing-which was a real challenge. This looks simple to do but for people like me and Daddio, who really don't know our way around a sewing needle, this is always the hard part. Making quilt blocks is fun. Putting them together-not so much.

His Serendipity quilt is stuck in neutral at the moment. There is just too much else to do.

He has 200 tumblers paper pieced and waiting for a volunteer or two to sew them all together. Maybe the next time me and The Sisters get together we will have more time to help him out. This time of year, there is just too much outside that has to be taken care of first.

Last but not least, he is trying his hand at applique and embroidery.
It's all rather impressive considering that this time last year, he was in a nursing home, wheelchair bound and in a pretty terrible state of dementia. Miracles happen.

  1. A miracle for sure. It's amazing what keeping the body and mind busy can do for us. The quilts are beautiful, as always!
